Liquorice

Liquorice comes from a plant with the greek name Glycyrrhiza, which means sweet roots.  This chewy tasty sweets goes all the way back to ancient times and was enjoyed by Pharaohs and Prophets alike. In the middle ages it was brought back by the crusaders, and was first manufacted in a monastry in Pontefract !
